Family Date Class: Wheel Throwing
Private wheel throwing experience for 2-6 individuals.
Service Description
A laid back and fun chance for family and friends to get muddy and experience wheel throwing at their own pace. We focus on having fun and enjoying the process as we begin to get used to the feel of throwing. You will leave with 1-2 thrown and glazed piece that will be fired to over 2000 F and ready for pickup in 6+ weeks. 2 Person Class Includes: Wheel throwing class for two along with film style photos sent digitally to you after class. Important Note: Pottery is a fragile and unpredictable medium. You are not guaranteed a finished product that is in perfect condition. We move hundreds of pieces of pottery through our studio monthly. (This is all completed by one single person) patience in receiving finished products is of UTMOST IMPORTANCE. We are not responsible for a piece cracking, breaking, etc. in the kiln. We take every measure possible to care for your piece and get it to you. Pottery is about getting your hands muddy, clearing your mind and making a memory. NOT about the finished product. Patience is what will allow this studio and the amazing recourses it provides to Key West to remain here. Q&A Q:What should I wear? A: You will be throwing with a speckled stoneware, it tends to not stain and washes out easy, but you will get messy! Wear something comfortable that will allow you to spread your legs around the wheel. We have aprons you can borrow in studio. Q: Can I throw on the wheel with long nails? A: Technically, yes. It will be more difficult and you will need to try some different techniques, like wrapping a sponge around your nails, but it is possible. Q: Do I need to bring anything? A: No! Everything needed to throw on the wheel is provided in the class, you absolutely may bring a water bottle for yourself.
