Hand Building Mug Class

Service Description

This is a pottery class that teaches students hand building pottery skills. Students will end the course having created a beautiful and one of a kind hand built mug from ceramic stoneware or porcelain. They will be directed through the construction of their vessel using the pinch pot technique and take time to sketch ideas of their overall vision for their piece. Drying of the pieces will be expedited using a heat gun. The pieces are now ready for glaze. Students will paint their pieces with glaze, learning several surface decoration techniques and being provided with a range of unique glazes. If you prefer to complete the class following the traditional two-firing method in two, 1.5 hour sessions, that is an option as well and does not change the total cost, please call or text 305-393-9672 to book. The finished pieces will be ready to pick up or shipping at the gallery in 6+ weeks or they can be shipped for an additional charge. Important Note: Pottery is a fragile and unpredictable medium. You are not guaranteed a finished product that is in perfect condition. We move hundreds of pieces of pottery through our studio monthly. (This is all completed by one single person) patience in receiving finished products is of UTMOST IMPORTANCE. We are not responsible for a piece cracking, breaking, etc. in the kiln. We take every measure possible to care for your piece and get it to you. Pottery is about getting your hands muddy, clearing your mind and making a memory. NOT about the finished product.
